The New Year will ring in a little bit different this time around, with a total of five heavyweight matchups scheduled on New Year's Day. The matchups will take place on January 1st, 2022 at 8 p.m. ET live at Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, South Florida. Tickets go on sale beginning Monday, Nov. 22nd at 10 a.m. ET and are available for purchase at Ticketmaster.com.

The fights feature Cuban-born Luis Ortiz (32-2, 27 KOs), a top heavyweight with insane power, footwork, and boxing skills, battling Charles Martine (28-2-1, 25 KOs), a former world champion. Ortiz has a winning record of success and was victorious over many notorious fighters including Tony Thomson, Alexander Flores, and Bryant Jennings. 29-year old amateur fighter Frank Sanchez (19-0,13 KOs) will go up against Carlos Negron (25-3, 20 KOs), a Puerto Rican Olympian with impressive athletic abilities.

Also squaring off are Michael Coffie (12-1, 9 KOs) and Jonnie Rice (14-6-1, 10 KOs) who will battle in a 10-round rematch. Gerald Washington (20-4-1, 13 KOs) will go up against 31-year old Ali Eren Demirezen (14-1, 11 KOs) while 29-year old Viktor Faust (8-0, 6 KOs) will face Lago Kiladze (27-5-1, 19 KOs).

With the chance for Luis Ortiz or Charles Martin to win the world title, the pressure is on them to perform their absolute very best. “Charles Martin is a good fighter, but he's standing in my way”, states Ortiz with confidence. “I can't wait to give my fans in South Florida a great show”, he adds. This anticipated rumble is one that fans will not want to miss.

St. Louis-born Martin currently lives in California where he spends every spare moment training and perfecting his skills. He first earned his heavyweight title in January 2016 and has been on the rise in his weight class ever since. His most recent victory includes a KO to 39-year old, 6’6” professional American boxer, Gerald Washington. Washington’s stats currently stand at 20 wins, 4 loses, and 1 draw with a KO rate of 65%.

29-year-old Cuban-born heavyweight champ, Frank Sanchez is a rising star and is truly a spectacle in the ring. His most recent win is also the best one in his career thus far when he won a victory over 27-year-old Nigerian heavyweight professional boxer, Efe Ajagba. “I believe I will be the first heavyweight champion in Cuban history”, he says with unwavering excitement.

33-year-old Negron, a former Puerto Rican 2008 Olympian, boasts a winning streak, having won five games in a row. His most recent knockout was in March 2020 where the unbeaten Robert Alfonso was challenged with negroni skills. “My experience and preparation are going to be the difference”, says Negron. “I'm extremely motivated to give the fans a great fight and put myself in a position to get a world title opportunity”, he adds. Carlos Negron fights internationally and his presence in the ring will have audiences captivated.
